“September is my favorite time of year to finally turn the central air off and turn the heat on at 5 a.m., then turn it back off at 9 a.m. to open the windows, then shut the windows at noon and turn on the AC, then turn it off at 7 p.m.” Thanks to my sister, Joan, who just moved to Minnesota, for sharing that meme. It’s a bewildering time of the year. Flip-flops or parkas?
After a rude blast of mid-October with an early frost up north, the atmosphere floating over our heads will mellow this week. Happy to see 70s with a shot at low 80s by late week. NOAA’s Global Forecast System weather model insists we’ll see 90 degrees this weekend, but I’m not so sure. Not yet. Either way, you can retire your jacket until further notice.
The best chance of a stray thunderstorm Monday comes north of MSP; more numerous showers and T-storms Tuesday, with a few showery stragglers on Wednesday. More thunderstorms fire up late Friday into Saturday. It’s early, but Sunday may be the drier day of the weekend.
The good news: lawns are neon green. Minnesota is drought-free.
