Who ordered wind with a side of sprinkles? Uffda.
Monday’s brief line of showers was in association with a cold front that will be responsible for a preview of the Gales of November Tuesday. Area-wide wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph are likely with peak winds approaching 40 to 50 mph west of the metro. Temperatures will be more reminiscent of early November, with highs reaching only the upper 40s, and the coldest since possibly early April.
The metro has yet to see an “official” frost of 32 degrees. Our coldest was 39 degrees back on Oct. 8. The average first frost in the metro occurs around mid-month, but has been as late as mid-November (set in 2016). We’ll be close to frosty levels over the next few nights in the metro, best chance will be Thursday morning. Most of the outlying areas will likely see frosty rooftops a couple of times later this week.
Meanwhile, a potential Halloween hurricane could be developing in the Atlantic Basin. Nothing like Hurricane Grace, which created the perfect Halloween recipe back in 1991. IYKYK.
