Yes, there have been episodes of thick wildfire smoke, but at least meteorologists aren’t throwing around the D-word. At the beginning of 2025, 56% of Minnesota was in moderate drought. Today? No drought anywhere, statewide. In spite of recent flooding rains in southern Minnesota, farmers are facing a bumper harvest.

According to Dr. Mark Seeley, 2025 is in fact running warmer and wetter. “For the first almost 8 months of the year, the average statewide temperature is about 3F above normal, ranking as the 15th warmest in the last 130 years,” he wrote in Minnesota WeatherTalk. Statewide precipitation is 2.6 inches above average, making this the 30th wettest year since 1895.

Dew points are in the 40s out there (ultralow humidity for late August), and comfortable weather lingers all week with a slight warming trend. A stray thundershower may sprout Wednesday night, but a mostly dry sky is expected into Labor Day weekend with little chance of weather-related drama.

Our summer sun is getting tired. Autumn is in sight.
