Yeah, I’m the dork who takes photos of clouds. A sunset is better in person, but every one is uniquely magnificent, especially in Minnesota. I even captured a tornado from our dock years ago.

I’ve done some stupid things over the years, but one thing I got right: I saved hundreds of hours of stories from my late father, Volker, who lived a made-for-TV-movie life that included escaping death in World War II and coming to America.

One suggestion: With smartphones, it has never been easier to capture stories. Everyone has a unique story that should be remembered and celebrated. Photos are nice, but record movie clips of parents, grandparents and friends. Their stories will live on.

The weather story is warmer-than-average temperatures through the end of September. A storm ignites later Monday, and a drier Tuesday could bring 90 degrees. Hello July! The chance of rain increases Thursday into the weekend with 1- to 2-inch rains over the next week.

Highs may brush 80 in the last week of September. Fall is coming, but it’s in no great hurry.
