You might have gotten Cub Foods' coupon book in the mail over the weekend. What you may not know is that home delivered booklet contains two coupons for $5 off a purchase of $50 or more. The booklet which you can get in the store does not include those coupons, nor are they available at the service desk.

If you are not on the mailing list or threw your booklet away, you can call 1-877-282-3663 to get them.

I'd like to thank dealspotter Kim Crumb of Bloomington for pointing out the $5 coupons.

In case you missed it, Cub has also begun a new gasoline savings program. Save 5 cents per gallon at Holiday stations with every $50 spent at Cub. Use your $5 off coupon from the mailing and then save more at Holiday. The nice thing about Holiday gas stations is that they also accept competitors' gas coupons. So if you get the Kwiktrip coupons in the paper and don't live or work near a Kwiktrip, use them at Holiday instead.

Holiday will let you stack up to three Cub coupons in a fill-up, so if you have three separate coupons with a 5 cent savings each, you can bring them all in for a 15 cent savings per gallon. Dealspotter Sue from Woodbury mentions that Super America will also accept Holiday and other competitors' coupons. Even better, SA doubles the coupon value on Tuesdays.

Unfortunately, Cub does not double mfg. coupons as Rainbow does, but Cub does accept expired manufacturer coupons (but not Cub store brand coupons) up to 90 days after expiration.

Normally, Rainbow doubles up to 5 coupons of $1 or less on Wednesdays with a $25 purchase, but this Saturday (Nov. 12) Rainbow is again accepting up to 10 coupons for doubling. Here's one more tip I got from Carrie Rocha at Pocket your Dollars. If you buy the cereal on sale (often General Mills) and get a coupon for free eggs and milk, you don't have to come back and use the coupon for eggs/milk at a later visit. Just put the eggs and milk on the conveyor belt separated by the rubber bar after your regular purchases. You get the coupon for the free eggs and milk at your first purchase and use it immediately. I asked the cashier if that was okay and had no problem.

Anyone else want to share your way to save at Cub or Rainbow?
