The first governor's race candidate forum – after the DFL and Republican Party endorsement conventions – has been set for Sunday, May 2 at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. The Governor's Candidate Forum on Clean Energy, Clean Water and Minnesota's Future is the newest addition to the Living Green Expo, May 1 and 2 at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds Grandstand. Now led by the Minnesota Environmental Partnership (MEP), the Expo is one of the largest and most successful events of its kind nationally, and the largest zero-waste event in the state.

More than 25,000 visitors attend the Living Green Expo annually, and organizers of this year's event are excited to bring together Minnesota voters and state leaders to discuss the major issues affecting the health, environment and economy of the state. "This will be the first time that candidates for governor will have the opportunity to address the future of Minnesota's clean energy jobs, clean water, and the health of our children and grandchildren after two major party endorsing conventions," said Steve Morse, executive director of MEP. The 1 p.m. Sunday, May 2 forum falls immediately after the Republican state endorsing convention and a week after the DFL state endorsing convention. The Independence Party endorsing convention is scheduled for May 8. A special 1,500-seat event tent will be erected outside the Grandstand on the State Fairgrounds for the Living Green Expo candidate forum. Visitors at the Expo will have an opportunity to submit video-taped questions to the gubernatorial candidates in advance of the forum. Forum organizers are inviting active major party candidates who have received their party endorsements or have shown a threshold of support in recent statewide polls. The Living Green Expo Governor's Candidate Forum is sponsored by Supervalu. Based in Minnesota, Supervalu is one of the largest grocery companies in the United States and has a strong commitment to preserving and protecting the environment.
