Don Berry of Edinburgh USA Golf Course won his fifth Minnesota Senior Open title in the past six years Tuesday at Baker National Golf Course in Medina.
He shot a 4-under-par 68 for a 135 two-day total, nine shots better than Mike Barge of Hazeltine National Golf Club.
Berry played the last five holes at 5 under.
After a bogey on the 13th hole, Berry made a birdie from 4 feet after hitting a great approach from 170 yards on the par-4 14th. On the par-4 16th, he made a 10-foot putt for birdie putting him at 6 under and six shots ahead.
The shot of the tournament came at the par-4 17th when Berry's wedge from 90 yards landed 3 feet past the hole and spun back in for eagle. He had another birdie on the par-4 18th.
"When I've won this before, I haven't necessarily felt like I played great but just good enough [to win]," he said. "This time I did and that made it fun."
Mike Flaherty from Dakota Pines Golf Club began the day one shot off the lead, but a costly lip-out for par on the par-4 first hole and a four-putt triple-bogey on the par-4 third quickly moved him out of contention.
Four-ball winners three-peat
Lynn Anderson and partner Leigh Klasse shot a 3-under 69 to win the MGA Senior Women's Amateur Four-Ball Championship at Minnesota National Golf Course in McGregor. Their 36-hole total of 136 was eight shots better than runners-up and former three-time champions Claudia Pilot and Brenda Williams. This is the third consecutive title for Anderson and Klasse.
