A sheriff's deputy shot and wounded a knife-wielding man inside a Crystal home while officers were attempting to fulfill a court order to remove him, authorities said Thursday.
The shot was fired Wednesday evening at the home in the 3600 block of Colorado Avenue, according to the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
The agency said the wounded man was taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale and will survive. No officers were hurt in the incident, the BCA added.
According to the BCA:
Hennepin County sheriff's deputies and Crystal police officers arrived at the home shortly before 7 p.m. to serve the man with an emergency order to remove him because he posed an "immediate danger of domestic abuse."
As officers tried to enforce the order, the man grabbed a knife and locked himself in a bathroom.
Officers negotiated with him for about 2½ hours before entering the bathroom, where they repeatedly used a Taser on him.
"At one point, one of the deputies fired his gun, striking the man," the agency's statement read.
