Last year Mixed Blood Theatre staged the first post-New York run of "Ruined." In its upcoming season, the Minneapolis playhouse will have "Avenue Q" among its notable theatrical properties. Mixed Blood has announced a season that will include the irreverent people-and-puppet musical that has songs such as "The Internet Is For Porn," "Everyone's A Little Bit Racist" and "If You Were Gay" performed by such characters as Christmas Eve, Kate Monster and Lucy Slut. Theater founder Jack Reuler directs (March 25-May 1, 2011). The 2010-2011 Mixed Blood roster also includes director Marion McClinton's staging of Thomas W. Jones II's "A Cool Drink of Water" (Sept. 17-Oct. 10). This comedy provides a 21st-century update on the lives of the characters of "A Raisin in the Sun." Caridad Svich's bilingual adaptation of Isabel Allende's 1982 novel "House of The Spirits/La casa de los espiritus," will also be on the Mixed Blood mainstage under director Marcela Lorca, who staged "Caroline, or Change" at the Guthrie (Oct. 22-Nov. 14). The Mixed Blood season will also feature the premiere of "Agnes Under the Big Top, A Tall Tale," written and directed by Aditi Brennan Kapil (Feb. 18-March 6, 2011). This circus-themed play about immigrants finding their way in America has, among its characters, a former Bulgarian ringmaster, an Indian call center escapee and a Liberian home care worker. As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
