Skijoring clinic

French Regional Park

9 a.m.-noon Saturday

Head to Plymouth and learn about skijoring: skiing with your dog. Get tips on equipment, commands, training and trail etiquette. Experienced skijorers will answer questions and guide you and your dog through an on-foot session. Skijor Now staff will fit gear for those buying equipment. Dogs should be friendly around others and must stay in their owner's car the first 30-45 minutes of the program. Cost is $5 and reservations are required. World of beavers

Fort Snelling State Park

1-2 p.m. Saturday

Come and learn about the life history of North American beavers. Meet at the visitor center. (612-725-2724, mndnr.gov)

Nature ornaments

Jay Cooke State Park

1-2:30 p.m. Saturday

Make and take your own nature-themed ornaments. Instruction will be provided. Meet at the River Inn Interpretive Center. Registration required; call 218-384-4610. (mndnr.gov)

A day to hike

Whitewater State Park

1-3 p.m. Saturday

Take a memorable hike along the park's scenic bluffs and rushing waters. Keep a keen eye out for soaring eagles and the handiwork of beavers. Also learn about some of the ways the park has changed during the past century. (1-507-932-3007, mndnr.gov)

Bird banding

Eastman Nature Center

9 a.m.-noon Saturday

Join licensed biologists who study the ages, migrations and populations of wild birds. See songbirds safely captured, measured, assessed, and banded with numbered leg rings. Drop in anytime. (763-694-7700, threeriversparks.org)

All reptiles

Richardson Nature Center

3-4 p.m. Sunday

Drop in anytime for this weekly program in Bloomington. Sunday's topic: reptiles and amphibians. Children 17 years and younger must be accompanied by a registered adult. The event is free. (763-694-7676, threeriversparks.org)

Veterans Day

Whitewater State Park

7-8 p.m. Wednesday
