If some outdoors activities in Minnesota seem out of reach — say, rock climbing — consider the state's special program for entry-level types.

Registration is underway for the Department of Natural Resources' "I Can!" introductions to rock climbing, mountaining biking, and even camping.

"During 2016, the 125th anniversary of Minnesota state parks and trails, we are making a special effort to reach out and connect new people to the outdoors," said Erika Rivers, parks and trail division director

Registration is open for these family oriented sessions. Equipment and instruction are provided. Sign-up is online at bit.ly/statecan, or call 866-857-2757. The upcoming dates:

I Can Fish! Trout fishing, May 29, Whitewater State Park

I Can Camp! One night, June 4, Interstate State Park, Taylors Falls, Minn.

I Can Paddle! Canoeing on lakes and rivers, kayaking on lakes and rivers, various dates and locations

I Can Climb! June 4, Interstate State Park

I Can Mountain Bike! June 25, three 2 1/2-hour sessions, Cuyuna County State Recreation Area
