A disturbance in a western Wisconsin home over the weekend left one person dead and another detained, authorities said Monday.

A 911 call about 3:15 p.m. Sunday brought officers to the home in the 600 block of 15th Street SE. in Menomonie, a couple of blocks west of the Dunn County Fairgrounds, police said. Menomonie is about 45 miles east of the Twin Cities.

Emergency responders attempted to revive a male, but he was declared dead at the scene.

Authorities have not said how the person died.

Another male was detained by police, who continue their investigation.

"This incident is being treated as a suspicious act," police Cmdr. Rick Hollister wrote in a news release. "The crime scene is not a random act.

Police sought to assure the public that the area was safe and secure as they conducted the investigation, but shared no details.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to call Menomonie Police Department Detective Kelly Pollock at 715-232-2198.
