One man is dead after a dispute between people in two vehicles led to a crash Thursday in Minneapolis.

Just before 3 p.m., officers responded to a report of gunshots and a vehicle crash in the area of the 2200 block of N. Aldrich Avenue, police spokesman John Elder said in a news release.

They found one person "gravely injured" at a crash site, Elder said. He was taken to HCMC, where he died.

Police interviewed another male at the scene who was in the vehicle.

A preliminary investigation led detectives to believe that the occupants of two vehicles were engaged in a dispute as they drove north on Aldrich. When they entered the 2200 block, one vehicle left the road and struck a tree, gravely injuring a passenger in that vehicle who later died.

The other vehicle fled north, Elder said. An investigation continues.
