Spring has swept the North Shore, too, of course, and that means Northern Landscapes Festival.
The event is May 29-31 at North House Folk School in Grand Marais, Minn.
"For us, a school that teaches traditional northern craft, having a weekend that's committed to the story that the landscape tells in this season is of elemental importance. ... Spring has been significant for the north forever," said Greg Wright, the school's executive director.
"[Spring] is a season of light. It's a season of emerging abundance," Wright added. The festival courses reflect that, with instructionals ranging from spring edibles to woodcraft to birding for all levels. Among the presenters is bird expert Bob Janssen, a longtime instructor at the school, who will talk about his new book, "Birds of Minnesota State Parks."
