Dispatch: Solstice celebration and snowshoe hike at Split Rock Lighthouse State Park

December 18, 2014 at 6:08PM

"We'll meet at the Trail Center – that's the warming house at Split Rock – and dive into the ancient traditions of celebrating the solstice, and how they influence our current traditions like putting up lights. Heading outside we'll embark upon a short hike and talk about what causes this astronomical event of our longest night and shortest day. Finally, we'll end at a bonfire where we'll practice some of those ancient traditions and maybe start a few new ones of our own."
