Dispatch: Dry fly fishing in southeast Minnesota

May 29, 2014 at 8:01PM

"The best dry fly fishing of the season is typically mid-May through mid-June, but everything is two to three weeks behind this year. We're just starting to get into the good dry fly fishing right now. I was down this morning by the confluence of Forestville Creek and the south branch of the Root River, which is right here in the park's picnic area. And by gosh, the fish are rising down there! And it's definitely one of the most beautiful times to be streamside. We're right in the midst of the wildflower peak. And the birding is incredible — anglers can't help but notice all the redstarts, yellowthroats and yellow warblers. Even if you don't catch fish, you're going to be happy because it's so beautiful along the streams."

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
