Satisfying a beignet craving doesn't have to mean booking an expensive trip to New Orleans, not when there's Mojo Monkey Donuts (1169 W. 7th St., St. Paul, 651-224-0142, www.mojomonkey.biz). Every Saturday and Sunday (to 1 p.m.), owner Lisa Clark calls upon her 11 years in the Big Easy and produces lovely beignets, making them to order so they're fresh, light and piping hot. It's a $2.89 trip to Louisiana, minus the airline ticket.
