Although every day is technically Pancake Day at IHOP (10 Minnesota locations, including 5601 Xerxes Av. N., Brooklyn Center, 763-560-9622, www.ihop.com), the chain more formally known as the International House of Pancakes is dubbing Tuesday "National Pancake Day." That's when customers can enjoy a short stack of buttermilk flapjacks in exchange for a donation (starting at $5) supporting Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare in St. Paul, among other children's hospitals. By the way, Shrove Tuesday — long associated with pancakes — is the following week, on Feb. 12.
