Program a few new restaurants into your dining-out schedule.

Those following the tenets of the paleo diet have a refuge in Paleos Cuisine and Cocktails, with its gluten-free, soy-free and nearly dairy-free menu. Dinner daily, with weekday happy hour (appetizer prices cut by $2, reduced drink prices) starting at 3 p.m.

Where to dine in the vast expanses of the Shoppes, Fountains and other various and sundry elements of the area known as Arbor Lakes? That's easy: At handsome Patrick's Bakery & Cafe, where owners Patrick and Azita Bernet serve breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, along with a bakery counter and a full bar. On Wednesday evenings, kids 12 and under eat free with an adult entree purchase.

The flavors of the Southwest are the focus at casual Saguaro, at prices that rarely venture above $10 (top prices are $16 for a whole roasted trout with salsa verde, and $17 for osso buco-style pork in a pepper sauce). Weekend brunch includes a half-dozen breakfast tacos in the $4 to $5 range, along with tomatillo-poached eggs ($10) and smoked trout sopes ($12).

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
