The crowd at the DFL election party was thinning out close to 2 a.m.

People were sitting around on what had been the dance floor.

The rock and hip-hop that had blared from the speakers was replaced with easy listening and jazz.

At 1:40 a.m., the bars were minutes away from last call.

Zach Evers, a Hilton bartender, said customers had switched to hard liquor from wine and beer.

"They've gotten filled up and now they want more bang for their buck," he said.
