The basics: The Clearing Folk School in Ellison Bay, Wis., offers workshops and classes year-round. The summer program — with weeklong classes from May through October — is the oldest of the offerings and the closest to the founder's vision of a traditional folk school.
Lodging and food: The summer program offers family-style dining three times per day, which is included in its lodging and registration price. The dorm room package cost is $995; two-person rooms, single rooms and commuter options are also available. An overnight in the Cliffhouse can be arranged by your meal host.
