A Clearbrook, Minn., man allegedly shot at a U.S. Customs and Border Protection helicopter Monday morning, shattering one of the helicopter's windows and injuring a Polk County sheriff's deputy who was on board.

It wasn't immediately clear whether the deputy was hit by flying glass or a bullet, but he was taken to a hospital in Fosston, Minn., for treatment and was released, according to the Clearwater County Sheriff's Office.

The 71-year-old Clearbrook man was arrested after Clearwater County deputies went to an area near the border of Polk and Clearwater counties where the helicopter was hit. They found the man hiding in the woods near a cabin, the sheriff reported.

The man has not been charged as the investigation continues.

The helicopter was hit twice by bullets from a high-powered rifle. The pilot was flying through an area of suspected drug activity about 10 a.m. when the shots were fired.
