Authorities are investigating the suspicious death of a man found in Shoreview on Thursday morning.

About 6:40 a.m., a deputy responded to a call of someone slumped against a building in the 5700 block of Hamline Avenue N., according to Randy Gustafson, spokesman for the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office.

After examination, the deputy determined the man was dead.

Gustafson said the man appeared to have died of "suspicious circumstances." The man, who is described as black and in his late 20s to late 30s, didn't have any identification documents on him, Gustafson said.

"We are trying to put it all together and [determine] what exactly happened," he said.

The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting the Sheriff's Office with the investigation. The incident appears to be isolated and there is no danger to the public, Gustafson said.

If anyone saw something suspicious in the area Wednesday night or early Thursday morning, call authorities at 651-767-0640.
