Denver Broncos special teams coordinator Mike Priefer was at Winter Park on Monday interviewing for the same position with the Vikings.

Brian Murphy remains in that position on coach Leslie Frazier's staff, but Frazier has been noncommittal about Murphy's role going forward. Both offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell and Murphy were told last week that while they weren't being dismissed, the Vikings would interview other candidates for their jobs.

The Vikings interviewed former Broncos coach Josh McDaniels for their offensive coordinator position last week, but the team is not commenting on individual interviews.

In addition to spending the past two years working for McDaniels, Priefer also has coached special teams for Jacksonville (2002), the New York Giants (2003-05) and Kansas City (2006-08). Priefer began his coaching career at his alma mater, the U.S. Naval Academy, as a graduate assistant in 1994.

The Vikings also are expected to interview Dave Magazu for their offensive line job. He has held the same job with the Carolina Panthers, who parted company with longtime coach John Fox after the season.

On the move Frazier's changes have been on the offensive side of the ball, but it appears he might have to replace at least one defensive assistant.

The Buccaneers are believed to have made an offer to Vikings defensive line coach Karl Dunbar to coach the same unit in Tampa Bay and there is little Minnesota could do if Dunbar decides to accept. Unlike many of the Vikings assistants, Dunbar's contract is expiring and he will become a free agent. Dunbar has been the Vikings defensive line coach since 2006, when Brad Childress hired him to be a part of his first staff.

If Dunbar leaves, the Vikings could promote assistant defensive line coach Diron Reynolds. Ryan Silverfield also helped with the defensive line last season but it's expected he will be named the Vikings' assistant offensive line coach.

Getting in the swing

Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell, who has talked about pursuing a career in golf when he's done with football, has received an invitation to play in the Bob Hope Classic this month in California.

One of the largest celebrity pro am golf tournaments will be played on four courses in La Quinta the week of Jan. 17-23.

Longwell will spend the tournament playing with a pro golfer, but that hasn't yet been set. He will have Bill Schroeder, his former Green Bay teammate and roommate, caddy for him.

Longwell, who lives in the Isleworth golf community in Windermere, Fla., played in his first tournament in 2005 when he participated in three events on the Canadian Tour as part of a deal set up by the Golf Channel. Last spring, he attempted to qualify for the U.S. Open.

Longwell, who has been with the Vikings since 2006, will be a free agent this offseason.
