Dentist punished for bad behavior

Dental board said his conduct brings discredit to the profession.

From my colleague, Jane Friedmann: Dr. Norman Eid, a Plymouth dentist who belittled patients, worked in an unsterile office and failed to properly manage his patients' pain, was recently disciplined by the Minnesota Board of Dentistry for unprofessional conduct. An outside evaluator recommended that Eid be ordered to cease practicing as a dentist, but the board agreed to let him keep working as long as he agreed to various conditions on his license, including "behavioral monitoring." He also must complete courses on the use of local anesthetics and infection control. The board said Eid "may be unable to practice dentistry with reasonable skill and safety." Specifically, the board said Eid suffers from a "narcissistic personality disorder with obsessive-compulsive and personality features." Read the comprehensive story from Tara Bannow of the Minnesota Daily. You can also read the Board of Dentistry's disciplinary action.
