As expected, state Rep. Randy Demmer released his first TV ad this morning, painting U.S. Rep. Tim Waltz as a reliable vote for the Democratic agenda in Washington.

"Trillion dollar deficits," an announcer says. "Government control of healthcare. The cap and trade national energy tax that would hurt Minnesota farmers and the rest of us. There's a real mess in Washington - and Tim Walz voted for it all."

Just to hammer the point home, Walz's face then appears next to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama as lightning strikes over the Capitol.

The ad shows Demmer on a farm, where he is described as a "Family man…farmer…small business owner."

The National Republican Congressional Committee paid for the ad along with the Demmer campaign.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
