Delta gender option

Delta Air Lines said it will add a nonbinary gender option for flight bookings this year, becoming the third major carrier after United and American to provide a gender-neutral alternative. Delta will add the "X" gender marker encouraged by the Transportation Security Administration for ticket purchases on the airline's website, mobile app and at other purchasing locations. And, the State Department will allow the "X" gender marker option on U.S. passports starting Monday. TSA plans to eventually allow applicants for its PreCheck program to choose "X" as their gender, which it said "keeps pace" with IDs that allow the "X" gender option.

Yellowstone 2172

As Yellowstone National Park celebrates its 150th-anniversary year, the park's fundraising arm is seeking $1,500 donations in exchange for an annual entry pass that can be used by the donor's descendants to visit the park in 150 years. The so-called "Inheritance Passes" will be valid for entry into Yellowstone in 2172. "It is our way of celebrating 150 years of Yellowstone National Park and to help preserve the park for the next 150 years," said Lisa Diekmann, president and CEO of Yellowstone Forever. Donors will also receive a pass to enter Yellowstone that is good for a year after its first use.

Rising airfares

U.S. domestic airfares have risen by 40% since January. Roundtrip domestic flights are now averaging $330, compared with $235 at the beginning of 2022, said analysts at travel comparison company Hopper. That's also an increase of 7% over 2019's pre-pandemic pricing. International fares are on par with 2019 at an average of $810 roundtrip, but up by 25% since the start of the year. Hopper said it expects average roundtrip domestic airfare prices to remain at around $320-$330 until the end of April, but it predicts prices will rise to $360 by the end of May and remain that way through June.
