Deep South Snow Outlook

December 3, 2009 at 1:25PM

Accumulating snowfall this far south in the United States is not unheard of,but it is certainly a rare occasion. A storm system sweeping across the DeepSouth Friday will bring enough snow to coat the ground from Texas to thesouthern Appalachians.Snow accumulations are expected mainly on grassy and elevated surfaces, as mostpaved ground will be too warm for the snow to stick. Places like Houston, SanAntonio and Baton Rouge will have some snow on the ground. The steadiest andheaviest snow from this system is expected north of the I-10 corridor, wheresome untreated roads could have a few slick spots Friday night withtemperatures dropping below freezing.
