DEATHS

Authorities confirmed 16 deaths related to weekend storms that swept across the eastern half of the United States in Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C., New Jersey, Kentucky, Ohio and North Carolina.

POWER FAILURES

At peak, 650,000 were without power in Maryland, 783,000 in Virginia, 350,000 in Washington and suburbs, 700,000 in Ohio, 510,000 in West Virginia and 125,000 in New Jersey.
