House Peters Jr., 92, a TV actor who became the original Mr. Clean in Procter & Gamble's commercials for household cleaners, died Wednesday of pneumonia at the Motion Picture and Television Fund Hospital in Los Angeles, said his son, Jon Peters. In his most memorable role, the elder Peters took on muscles, a bald head, a hoop earring and a no-nonsense attitude toward dirt and grime. From the late 1950s and into the early 1960s, Peters Jr. helped advertise the famous household cleaner with the trademark jingle, "Mr. Clean, Mr. Clean." From 1935 to 1967, Peters Jr. played many supporting roles, including working with Roy Rogers and Gene Autry on their television shows. He also appeared in "Perry Mason," "Gunsmoke," "The Twilight Zone" and "Lassie."
Fashion designer Eletra Casadei, 55, whose collections were carried in boutiques and departments stores across the nation and were seen on TV shows such as "Golden Girls" and "Dynasty," died Sept. 27 of brain cancer at her home in Pacific Palisades, her sister Andrea Casadei Best said. She also was known for her remakes of popular celebrity dresses at the Academy Award shows.
