Robert Giroux, 94, a 20th-century publishing giant who guided dozens of writers such as T.S. Eliot, Jack Kerouac, Bernard Malamud and Susan Sontag, died early Friday at an assisted living facility in Tinton Falls, N.J. Giroux, who was known for his taste and discretion during his 60-year career, helped create publishing house Farrar, Straus & Giroux.
