Arch West, 97, who helped develop Doritos corn chips, died at a hospital near his home in Dallas on Sept. 20. Doritos are Frito-Lay's second-best seller, after Lays Potato Chips, both nationally and around the world, with sales of nearly $5 billion annually. NEW YORK TIMES
