DFL gubernatorial candidate Mark Dayton's got a branded name, "Four Corners" and a plan -- hitting the four corners of the state -- on the final Friday before the Aug. 10 primary.

"Dayton has driven to every county in Minnesota this year, and on Friday, due to time constraints, the candidates will cover the state by air, making stops in Grand Marais, Hallock, Luverne and Winona—the Four Corners," the campaign said in a release.

Dayton was the first to announce his last days blitz plan but DFL candidates Margaret Anderson Kelliher and Matt Entenza will likely soon follow.

Two notes:

  • In the last week of the campaign, Dayton will spend lots of time in Northern Minnesota. He and his running mate were in Virginia and Duluth (his running mate's hometown) Monday, he'll hit Grand Marais in his "Four Corners" tour, and he will be in Hibbing and Duluth the day before the election. Meanwhile, AFSCME Council 5, which has endorsed him, has put up nine billboards on the Range and he just got the endorsement from the influential Mesabi Daily News. One of his dogs is even named Mesabi.Northern strategy here?
  • The Dayton campaign likes tour names with numbers in them. This one is "Four Corners," early this year they had "87 in 87" (87 counties in 87 days.) It's a stunner they didn't figure out a way to get a number in their "Serve our Seniors" tour.
