DFL gubernatorial candidate Mark Dayton reported spending $3.2 million, most of it from money he has loaned his campaign, the latest evidence of an expensive spending war between him and DFL rival Matt Entenza as they head toward the Aug. 10 primary.

Dayton, who loaned his campaign $570,000 in 2009, reported another $2.7 in loans made in 2010.

Entenza reported Monday that his campaign has spent about $4 million.
