Gov. Mark Dayton, who has pushed for more frequent political cash disclosures for state pols, raised about $80,000 this year and spent about $55,000, according to a report he voluntarily filed Thursday.
A few notes on the report:
-- The Minnesota State Patrol Troopers Association contributed $500 to Dayton on June 9, just about a week after they got layoff notices in case of government shutdown. The government did shutdown but troopers were left on the job, by order of the Ramsey County Court. That same day firefighters, police and other law enforcement associations also contributed.
-- Dayton contributed a little more than $3,000 to the DFL Party in the beginning of May.
-- Dayton's campaign still owes Dayton $3.9 million from the loans he gave to the campaign when he was running. He said he doesn't expect those loans will ever be paid back.
