BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — Gov. Mark Dayton has announced plans to convene a statewide water quality summit in February.
Dayton announced the summit Saturday at annual meetings of the Minnesota Farm Bureau and the Minnesota Farmers Union.
The governor's office says the summit is designed to focus attention on challenges facing Minnesota's water supplies — in both rural and urban areas of the state — and how to meet those challenges.
In a statement, Dayton cited his father Bruce Dayton's belief that "stewardship is a profound responsibility of each of us."
The summit will include water quality experts, farmers, legislators, regulators, the business community, members of the public, local leaders and others.
