ST. PAUL, Minn. - Gov. Mark Dayton's current chief spokeswoman will run his 2014 reelection campaign.

Katharine Tinucci assumed the job of press secretary when Dayton took office in January 2011. She had been communications director and deputy manager for Dayton's successful 2010 campaign.

Dayton's campaign announced the move Friday. Tinucci will wrap up her stint in the governor's office on June 7 when she transitions to the campaign. She says her goal as campaign manager is to spread the word about investments in education and job creation and other accomplishments during Dayton's tenure in office. A number of Republicans are vying to oppose Dayton.

Communications aide Matt Swenson will replace Tinucci as press secretary. Dayton's office is also hiring Linden Zakula, a one-time aide to Sen. Amy Klobuchar, as a communications advisor.
