Governor Mark Dayton Friday picked seven people to review candidates for seats on the Metropolitan Council, the agency responsible for transit, wastewater treatment and planning for parks in the Twin Cities. The seven will make recommendations to the governor for appointments to the council. They are:
- Jay Cowles, Co-Chair, Itasca Project Transportation Committee
- Bill Hargis, Former Mayor, City of Woodbury
- Mary Hamann-Roland, Mayor, City of Apple Valley
- Janet Williams, Mayor, City of Savage
- Melvin Carter, St. Paul City Council member
- Dennis Berg, Former Anoka County Commissioner
- Gail Dorfman, Hennepin County Commissioner
Earlier this month, the governor announced the appointment of Susan Haigh as Council Chair.
