The Secretary of State posted the results from the first day of gubernatorial recounting and they show Republican Tom Emmer lost four votes compared to Election Night and Democrat Mark Dayton picked up 20.

In the votes recounted Monday, Emmer had 431,757 votes, or 46 percent, and Dayton had 380,941, or 40 percent. When all the votes were counted the first time, Emmer had 431,761 in those counties and Dayton had 380,921.

On Monday, the first day of the recount, which is expected to last about a week, local election officials plowed through 45 percent of the state's ballots.

The Day One number also show that Emmer folks are levying more challenges than Dayton folks -- Republicans questioned officials' call on 281 ballots and Democrats questioned 86 ballots.
