A year ago this week, Dark Dark Dark was busy doing what the members of Brute Heart are doing this very afternoon: Getting ready to perform an original movie score outside Walker Art Center to finish off the Summer Music & Movies series. Dark Dark Dark took another big step today, coming back from a rather tumultuous hiatus by premiering their new song at Pitchfork.com. Titled "How It Went Down," the track reflects some of the personal upheaval that the mostly local chamber-folk troupe endured over the past year. You can hear it below.

Expect to hear plenty more when the album, "Who Needs Who," drops Oct. 2 via the Supply and Demand label. The tour behind the album will kick off right away Oct. 3 at the Cedar Cultural Center with Emily Wells and the harmonious ladies of Mountain Man opening.
