Radical Recess

Friday: This dance series concludes with performances in Loring Park created by choreographers Rosy Simas and Pramila Vasudevan. The first three events in the Minneapolis series, curated by Laurie Van Wieren and April Sellers for Hennepin Theatre Trust, took place in indoor spaces downtown, creating an interesting juxtaposition with unsuspecting bystanders. Last month, performers from Ananya Dance Theatre emerged from plastic bags in the IDS Center, while Robert Keo showed off his slick moves to the amazement of passersby wearing suits and carrying briefcases. This week's installment adds the element of the natural world. (12:30 p.m. Fri., Loring Park, 1382 Willow St., Mpls., free, madeheremn.org.)

A Man's Requiem

Saturday: South Korean dance company SEOP mixes contemporary and traditional Korean dance with Japanese butoh dance theater and other multicultural influences in this work. Telling the mystical story of a sinner's judgment day, the highly theatrical performance takes the audience on a journey to the afterlife for a visual exploration of destiny, karma and reincarnation. The piece debuted in 2010 at the World Festival of National Theaters in Korea, and has since toured nine countries. Kim Yong Chul, who founded SEOP in 1992, choreographed the work, and is a lead performer with the company. (7:30 p.m. Sat., Ordway Center, 5th and Washington Sts., St. Paul, $23-$45, 651-224-4222, ordway.org).
