Dallas training pals go 1-2 in junior short program at U.S. Figure Skating Championships

Emily Chan and Vivian Le, who train together in Dallas, finished first and second in the junior women's short program Tuesday as the U.S. Figure Skating Championships continued at Xcel Energy Center.

Chan, the 2015 novice champion, earned a score of 66.74 — and a standing ovation — while Le scored 57.02. The free skate is Wednesday.

In other events Tuesday, Tomoki Hiwatashi finished first in the junior men's short program with a score of 65.90, and Lindsay Weinstein and Jacob Simon scored 49.54 to take first place in the junior pairs short program.

Free skates in both disciplines are Wednesday.

Siblings Caroline and Gordon Green won their second consecutive novice dance title Tuesday with a total score of 144.37.
