Dakota County’s 911 call service was said to be up and running again Thursday night after being down for nearly four hours.

Authorities said the emergency line went down shortly after 6 p.m. Dakota 911 Executive Director Heidi Hieserich said that other 911 centers outside Dakota County also were experiencing outages, but the list of places impacted was undetermined.

“We’ll be working with our provider to identify the cause of the issue,” she said.

While the service was down, those who dialed 911 in Dakota County were routed through Ramsey County.

Dakota County residents on Thursday night posted screenshots of the emergency alert, which stated there was a “service disruption” and that workers were attempting to restore service.
