The FCC is likely on red-alert today -- and maybe the FBI, too -- what with the news that Curtiss A is taking over all two hours of Jackson Buck's excellent "Freewheelin' " show, which airs 2-4 p.m. on KFAI (90.3 FM Mpls, 106.7 in St. Paul, or click here to tune in online). Curt is making the appearance timed to his gig Friday at the 331 Club, which was originally supposed to be his birthday tribute to Elvis but had to be postponed last month. Since the King's b-day has come and gone, Mr. Almsted retooled the show into something now billed as "Curtiss A's History of Rock 'n' Roll" (9:30 p.m., free, no opener). The radio gig should thus be a great companion piece to the live set. Curt truly does have an encyclopedic knowledge of rock history and great stories, even including a lot of true ones. In fact, it's quite possible Curt could go all two hours without actually spinning any records. Good luck, KFAI.
