In a week in which gas prices rose to record highs and a new gas tax went into effect in Minnesota, Cub Foods and Holiday stations have teamed up to help mitigate the burden.

Today through midnight Saturday, Cub shoppers who bring their receipt to Holiday stations will get 2 cents off a gallon of gas, the amount equal to the new state gas tax that went into effect Tuesday. That's in addition to the grocery store's long-running promotion in which customers get 1 cent off a gallon of gas for every $10 they spend.

That means this week a customer who spends $30 on groceries will get a coupon worth 5 cents off a gallon of gas at Holiday stations. There is a 12 gallon limit.
