The false promise of $1.09 frozen OJ was a mistake, not a bait-and-switch, grocery chain says.

Last week, Derek Harley felt cheated when he got to the checkout counter at the Cub Foods on 84th Street in Bloomington. Fortunately he thought to take a picture of the sign that misled him. Here's what he told Whistleblower about it:

Lee Ann Jorgenson, who's in corporate communications for Cub parent Supervalu, thanked me for forwarding Harley's complaint.

Jim Oerter, the store director, also used the word "oversight" - he said a store employee didn't properly transcribe the deal offered in the Sunday circular. It's not about a "bait and switch," he said: "We wouldn't be in business if we did that."

If you've seen other signs making promises they can't fulfill, let us know.
