Cross-promotion: What Ordway, Hennepin bosses want to see in 'opposing' Twin Cities

We asked the Ordway's CEO to recommend an upcoming event at the Hennepin theaters — and vice versa.

Jamie Grant (above left) plans to see: Former Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant, performing Feb. 22 at the Orpheum Theatre with his band the Sensational Space Shifters.

"Robert and I lived in Austin, Texas, at the same time. He used to come to the Long Center for the Performing Arts, where I worked, to see the Austin Symphony. I'm excited about his new album and I'm definitely going to try to make it to Minneapolis to see him."

Mark Nerenhausen (right) plans to see: Bach's Brandenburg Concertos, played by the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra Dec. 8-9 at the Ordway.

"I grew up on Washington Island [Wis.] and we did not have access to formal arts events. My piano teacher gave me a recording of Pablo Casals conducting the Brandenburg Concertos. Consequently, my first classical concert was when I was 16 and drove my 1952 Chevy to the mainland to hear the Door County Music Festival performance of the Brandenburgs."
