Crews spent Sunday searching for a 35-year-old Twin Cities man who went missing Saturday after paddle boarding on Lake Waconia.

The man, who has not been identified, was reported missing by his family Saturday at 3 p.m., said Lt. Patrick Barry of the Carver County Sheriff's Office. The search began at 8 a.m. Sunday with help from dive teams from the Carver County Sheriff's Office and Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.

Assistance was provided by the Department of Natural Resources, the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community's fire department and the Mayer and Waconia fire departments.

The man's paddle board and personal items have been found, but there's no sign of his body, Barry said.

"If he's in the lake we're still trying to recover him," Barry said.

Officials called off search efforts at 6 p.m. Sunday because of the rain and cold, but Carver County will have crews out again Monday at 9 a.m., Barry said.

The missing man has been described as athletic, Barry said, and "in pretty good shape."
