Creating Memories

Along with 9 others, we took about 120 kids out and spent some time fishing this past weekend.

It's amazing how the tug of a bluegill on a 4 year olds fishing rod can be a catch of lifetime. This past weekend, 10 of us who have fished professinally for the past 20 plus years, took about 120 kids fishing for an hour each. Their ages ran from 4 to about 11 years old.

All of these kids were fishing as a part of Moosefest in Montello WI. We fished on Buffalo Lake, a southern WI. impoundment loaded with panfish and bass. The kids had fun and we had fun creating and sharing the memories they left with. Bobbers flew in all directions and didn't float too well as the fish kept pulling them under and the kids kept reeling them to the boat.

Just a FYI: I have fished walleyes on Lake Mille Lacs on three occasions the past couple weeks between being very busy with other spring projects, for about a half hour each time, and haven't caught one! lol As readers of this space know, my intent is and has been too catch and harvest a walleye during this "off season", while others are allowed to do the same during their "open season". I hope to find time this week to get a little more serious and fillet one. (lol--did I just confess, officially, to "intent" to fish walleyes during a closed season?) contact Steve at sf1954@embarqmail.com or 651-270-3383
