A 61-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a pickup truck making a turn in southeastern Minnesota, authorities said.

The crash occurred west of Lanesboro shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday at County Roads 8 and 17, according to the State Patrol.

Dead at the scene was Robert A. Petrillo, of Lanesboro, the patrol said. The four people in the pickup were not hurt.

The westbound pickup was turning from County Road 8 onto County Road 17, when it collided in the intersection with the eastbound motorcycle, according to the patrol. The motorcycle came to a rest underneath the pickup's front bumper.

The pickup driver, Thomas L. Rodts, of Albany, Ill., was not hurt. Neither were his passengers: wife Linda J. Rodts, 59; Bonnie L. Hartog, 56, of Milan, Ill.; and Terrance M. Hartog, 60, also of Milan.

The patrol has yet to say whether Petrillo was wearing a helmet. Everyone in the pickup had on a seat belt, and there is no evidence that alcohol played a role in the crash.

Petrillo worked for IBM in Rochester as an advisory programmer/engineer, according to a paid obituary posted on a funeral home website. He also was a deacon at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lanesboro and volunteered as a sound technician for the Community Theater of Lanesboro.
